Slavey
Where we began at Southern Counties Drama Festival 2023 With a challenging piece exploring family dynamics and their slaveys.

Written by Sigrid Gilmer. As the latest addition to the upper class, Nora and Robert Smith decide it’s time to buy their first slavey - Ted. However this new lifestyle seems to have its own turmoils for ted and all the family. With sonny’s canine outbursts grating away at her parents, will the family manage to uphold this idyllic facade or will their twisted reality be revealed.
As our first ever project we were led by Disaster Class's Creative Director Dominic Semwanga. With no experience across the board the team went in with a fuck around and find out attitude. Tackling bold theme's within the play and the production issues outside of the show this was not easy to pull off. With a budget of only £400 Dom decided to use a minimalist set that he built in the same place they rehearsed in the shed at the bottom of his garden. However with the sheer acting ability on stage, a killer score Created by Dominic Semwanga and Cameron Day and a bit of luck, the show managed to place overall 3rd place at the festival and racking up some nominations along the way
