ABOUT
The bold new face of theatre
What happens when a bunch of actors get an idea? A disaster, and that's what this group are just finding out. ‘Disaster Class’ came together in the late summer of 2022 . The company focuses on creating theatre for young people, by young people, it's not just for theatre lovers but for everyday people and we're always looking for new ways to engage a new generation in theatre. With talent from The Brit School, National Youth Theatre, Rada, Arts Ed and GSA the company champions fresh voices with a goal to create inclusive theatre that pushes boundaries in an industry that often doesn’t feel inviting to underrepresented groups. They have currently produced 5 productions with 2 original works by new writers.

Our ethos stems from the lack of opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds, especially in creative roles and we wanted to create a platform where they could test their creativity and not be afraid to fail. Every show we put on we challenge ourselves to try something we have never done before, whether with technical elements such as adding livestream video or performing in a non-traditional performance space, or even the storyline itself.
This was never more evident than with our original Hip-hop/RNB musical "A show About Tomorrow" which was a show from a diverse team that allowed us to push the boundaries of what musical theatre could be and who it is supposed to appeal to.

Since then we have had a successful year Competing in The All England Theatre Festival Final after winning 2 previous rounds with "Medicine" by Enda Walsh a show that really challenged our technical abilities as a team heavily utilising sound and projection.
